A Handful

He gave me a handful
And I gave it away
He handed me three and
Someone else took them
Then he brought two
And he kept one
And we ate those there together

And time passed
And eon by eon
We figured
And hustled

And changed keys
And laughed
And rolled down big muddy
To the ocean alone
On a singing, musical raft

And one came to listen
Then two
Then three....
Then a handful
And we gave them away
Traded them for more chocolates

To eat on some other long day
