I make no apologies for going to bed
While the sun is still trying to set
Because I have a dog and a cat
Who both have beat me to the mat to have their naps
Maybe it is natural to rest
At sunset
And feel the deep stillness thot exists
When the apparent crossing o’er the sky
Has quit for the day
Later I will rise again with the moon
And play my harp and spoons with it awhile
Until I get a solid smile from the man therein
And then I’ll go back and recline upon my mat
If I can find any room between my dog and my cat
Who both have stretched out in deep sleep for the rest of the night
