Heyyyyy Zero Displacement is the name
And a Vote to keep Inaction in Office
Is my game,
An appeal to the courts to set me free
Because this knight in shining armor
Y'all sent to guard me,
This prison guard,
Keeps trying to give me cigarettes.
But I don't smoke,
Except after sex,
And he knows that too,
Cause he's been screwing me for years.

Heyyyyy I just want one thing that's mine,
And a little noose on the end of the line
To hang myself with.
Then I can see if even death
Can set me free from the loneliness
I feel it is
To be human these days.

You're good for my face!
Because you give me that smirky smile,
Because the words you whisper in my ear go straight to my heart
And stay like obedient dogs,
They guard the chambers of my heart
From bogeymen who would come as self-doubts
And scare my smile away.
They wag their 'tales' at me,
And keep me knowing
How happy I am to see you,
How happy you are to see me.

Of course, then they just start to lick their balls,
And I'm at a loss to find some great symbolic meaning in that.
I've heard they do it just because they can.

"She would!" his eyes shot mine a message,
And then they looked me up and down.
"Oh no she wouldn't,"
My eyes answered him.

"She would!" his eyes insisted
And burned a hole through mine.
"Keep telling yourself that, you big lummox!" mine burned back to his.

"Oh! she would!"
His eyes closed and he swallowed me with them.

I watched him enjoying me in his mind for a long minute,
And he smiled so sweetly,
Showing just a little teeth.

And while his eyes were still closed,
My eyes grinned a bit of a devilish grin.

"Well, she might," they mused.

I cook on an open fire with my cast iron pan,
And scrub it out with river sand,
And rinse it in the fast flowing waters of the clear creek,

And a little curl of white smoke
Is enough to lull me to sleep tonight.
A soothing sight,
The comforting smell,
The monotonous pop and crackle of fire,
And I don't feel I'm out here all alone,

But I am.

Prometheus, you once brought the flames
Of progress to the human game
Of the same name,
And the gods put you in hell for that,
With an eagle, eternally eating your liver.

And so when I'm tempted to shed some light,
Offer my love on a winter's night,
Like a fire to some stranger's hearth,
Or just generally be kind,
I automatically put my hand over my liver,
And keep moving on.

Because for some, the stories of the gods
Make us humans feel we're not alone,

But we are,
Or might be better off.

I saw a beautiful star out my window.
Something about it caught my eye.
It shone a little brighter than the others
And had a little hint of color to it.
It was just in the corner of my peripheral vision,
But everytime I tried to turn my head and look at it directly,
It would seem to disappear.

Finally I was able to see that it was not a star at all,
But a reflection off a street light onto my window pane.

Well, I can sit and stare at that dumb streetlamp
All I want to, and it will never even look back at me,
And it will never move.

So now I'm laying here
With my chin on my fist staring up into the streetlamp,
Waiting for the sun to come up,
Or whatever it is that the sun does,
Or whatever it is that the earth does,
Or whatever it is that the universe does,
To create what I like to call "morning,"
So I can quit waxing all poetic,
And quit thinkin' about the stars,
(Which may only turn out to be lowly street lamps of the cosmos anyway,)
And get up and get on with my day.

I just spent twenty minutes watching cats fight.
It was the best use of my time.
You can learn a lot from a cat,
Like how to get your hind leg way up over your head,
And to put your front leg on the neck
Of some other cat you're fighting with
And push.

Then after they fought,
I guess they decided they should have kittens together,
And that took another twenty minutes.

I watched all of that too.

You really can learn a lot from a cat.

Fat Cat likes to eat.
He lays in front of his bowl
And eats the whole darn thing.
Little Girl likes to curl up by my feet.
She'd rather have me love on her than eat.
"Love me, love me, please," says she.

Fat Cat has made himself sick
Gorging on his food.
Little Girl watches him
And doesn't know what to do
To help him understand.
Love's the only thing
You can overdo and live.

Love's not everything,
But it is the only thing
That lasts.

"Love me, love me, please."
It's the heart cry of everything alive.
Fat Cat calls it to his food,
And someone may be calling out to you,
"Love me, love me, please."
