A night of rain,
A beautiful night,
I left a candle burning.
The smell of cinnamon in my room,
The rumble of the thunder,
Two big tomcats nestled in close to my skin
On either side of me and purred.
I dreamed of you.
The bamboo blinds
Flashed with lightning
From the stormy night sky behind them,
And backlit streams of scenes
Played in my mind,
Of memories of you,
And dreams that never happened.
The crickets sing
From some dry place they’ve found
To be tonight,
While the moon grows fat,
And the clouds bulge blue.
The candle burns,
And I dream of you.
