I’m thinking of something you said to me.

How can it be that it is you

Who makes me smile so big?

I’m thinking of you.

I’m thinking of something you said to me.

My heart follows the sounds

Of the sweet way you spoke to me.

The words trail off like a cat

Who’s fallen for the killdeer’s ploy again.

Your words flail, seemingly wounded,

Stirring up dust along the trail,

Leading me away from your nest

So I won’t discover your children and eat them.

But I don’t want to eat your children.

I want to eat you.

And who knows?

I might just catch you this time.

For I’m thinking of something you said to me,

And it’s making me think,

You might let me this time.
