Someone told me I must’ve been a hoot when I was young.

But I said, “No.

No, I truly was not.”

It used to cost to be a hoot.

It was a price I could not pay,

But now I find it is the other way around.

Everything now is upside down,

Even humility.

Nowadays it costs not to be a hoot,

Or at the very least,

Now it seems, I get to be a hoot for free.

So maybe I will just go out and start to be a hoot all over the place

And see what that gets me.
