We don't worry about what the dead poets say.
Even though they speak
From beyond the graves,
We just read them,
And try to learn
What made them great at words.

But if they stutter now and then,
They're forgiven,
The time in which they lived
Considered,
The culture, slang, and norms.
(And probably some editor
Hath corrected much.)

Today the lack of form
Is itself a form.
But if a typo, or faux pas grammar,
Or incorrect politics be detected,
It seems to me a live poet
Cannot be forgiven,
While he, or she, is livin'.

I'm floating on the transcendental meditations of others.
I know it's not supposed to work that way,
But it does.
I am on my way to a place where I belong,
A place where I have always yearned to be.

I will bathe myself in the lovely goddess, Ganga,
Where all my sins will be forgiven me.
I'll be set free, In facilitated Moksha,
From the exhausting cycles of life, and death.

I thirst, for the pure waters,
For the immersion into love,
For the remission of my western mind,
And the exotic, variant harmonic convergences of joy
That may carry me around the earth,
And beyond Akasha.

I'm going, going, gone...

I spent a long time
Watching smoke rise up
From the crematory chimney.
I said my goodbyes there,
While hot tears streamed down.
I walked home
Downcast,
Thinking I had died.
I'm not sure of anything.
I only know
It's not too early to go to bed,
Because as I crawled under the covers,
The cats joined me.
They cuddle up to me,
As close as they can get.

My bedroom window faces west.
I watch the day go down
Like a pornographic scene
I'm not supposed to see.
I'm fascinated by the difference
Between the sun and me.

And maybe there are too many things
That I don't know about.
Or maybe there is nothing else.
But I can't stop watching,
And I'm addicted to the sunsets.

Narcissus happened on to a mirrored pool
And saw himself. So beautiful
Was he, he could not bare
To look upon anything less,
Anyone else.

But the Lady of the Shallots,
Also cursed,
To look into the mirror ever,
She never saw herself,
Only the future.
Her prophecies never failed.

And so it is today the same,
Most men look at themselves,
And tame their hair with combs,
And check between their teeth.
While many women gaze within,
And only see the shapes of things to come.

Sometimes even the spring leaves fall.
After a night of ardent rain and darkness,
They have covered the sidewalk
Where I try to go.
And now, as the chapel bell rings,
The morning wind still drops them vaguely.

The world is full of love and grace.
Take my chin in your hand.
Turn my face  to see your smile.
Sing me your healing songs of love.
Fill my heart with harmonies.

Laugh with me as the leaves spill down around us,
Spring, summer, winter, fall.
Don't tell me what to do.
And neither will I force you to plummet
From your high place,
To the common grounds of love
Down here with me.
