They put our party in a separate room.
The acoustics in there were not good,
And so, we were subdued.
The food was hurried and it tasted bland.
The sound of laughter didn't rise, but dropped like eggs
And cracked upon the floor.
Just when everything suddenly hushed,
I heard a man say to his woman out in the hall,
"I don't want to see you anymore."
I turned to see her standing in the doorway.
Alone and unsure,
She looked in at our sad party
And turned away,
And left,
But I don't know where,
I don't know where she went.
I don't know where she went.
