I'm going to pretend the event is tonight
And take a hot bath and do my hair,
Slather rich emollients thickly.
Then I'll go for a long stroll
Down the walk canopied by old huge oaks and cottonwoods,
And dream of chasing rabbits like a hound,
And fighting pirates for their gold,
And by the time I fall into bed
I'll already be so sound asleep,
That I won't hear the nervous titters
Coming from my own soul,
And maybe tomorrow I'll be too consumed with life
To worry about the big event,
And my hair always looks so much better
When I don't fix it.
