Back Burner

You’ve got me on your backburner

Simmering slowly

Just enough heat so that I don’t require

Any real attention

You keep watching your other pots

And stirring them up real good

Flitting back and forth with your spatula waving

Keeping a check on all your irons in all those fires

Better watch out

Sometimes too many cooks spoil the soup

And sometimes the cook has too many watched

And unwatched pots

Sometimes the heat in the kitchen gets un-standable

This pot is ready to boil right over

So why not move me to the front burner

And jump in with me
