Oh! Eve,
Our deepest apologies.
We’ve shunned you like a leper.
We’ve cast a condescending eye
On you and all your sin.
But none of us are any better.
None of us could withstand either,
The torrid temptation
Of such a forbidden fruit.
I have seen the apple
Dangling there
So full and luscious.
I have felt its silky smoothness,
And smelled its sweet firm skin,
My mouth watering
In hunger for it.
My lips parting to receive it,
And tasting delicious satisfaction.
Oh Eve,
The “good” people of the world
Still blame you for the fallen-ness,
But we, too, are only human.
We are just like you.
