Over Retail

I’ve taken myself off the bargain table—
No longer subject to speculation,
For I have learned that you get what you pay for,
And I am no longer half-off.
I always thought myself cheap, but not easy,
But Today, the Commodity’s value has risen.
A rare thing and precious in this world,
To estimate one’s own worth, and rightly.
And so in a flash of fresh enlightenment,
I find myself expensive— costly as diamonds,
And hard as a rubric stone.
