A loving God could send someone to hell?

A tough-love God, I suppose,

Could ring the knell for punishment

And turn his back and sentence the very creation 

That had burgeoned from control.

But which is the god that would send someone to help,

To reassure and to console?

I want to know that god.

I want to see

What seeds might exist of divinity in me

And be content to watch them grow.
