Dowdy Thomasina
She used to be skinny and beautiful,
So much so that she drew a man to her
To breed and
Produce a crop of children.
Yet, in their wake,
She made the mistake of trying to eat
Like they do,
And heavy now, she sees
The young men hungrily eyeing
Her daughter so thin.
The mother’s thoughts fill with hopeless inhibitions,
Like whether their intentions are good or not,
Or what does it matter anyhow?
But she has paid full price
For the pizza buffet,
And now is not the time
To try and start a diet.
