People cry for justice,

But this, in itself, is a part of the problem.

Justice is a few rungs down

On the great ladder,

A few rungs below kindness,

And kindness, a few rungs below goodness.

True Goodness begins with self love,

Self-respect that overflows

Out in abundance to others.

If each of us could offer, out of deep self-respect,

And deep respect for others,

Or rather, if we could demand kindness of ourselves,

Much less goodness, and goodwill toward one another,

No justice would ever be required.
