It’s easy to hop when you have bird bones.
It’s easy to fly.
It all makes sense when you come from a good home,
And you’re encouraged to try.
But emerge from a heavy laden ladle
With baggage on even your shoes,
You’ll pour, straight down, and struggle uphill
With the joy of yesterday’s news.
Only a bird can truly have bird bones.
Only a bird can fly,
But you can lighten the weights from your heart,
And see if you might float by a little.
See if you might see the world a different way.
See the possibility that Love could be the Lifter of your Chin.
See the sky for what it is,
And dance across the ground.
Reconnect with the dream.
Move beyond survival,
So that wishes re-emerge,
And be just a little happy anyway.
If not for yourself, if nothing else,
It makes for great revenge.
