We drank tea and laughed all afternoon.
I kept watching you watch me,
As we read ancient poetry.
Time flew, and finally the robins, too,
Returned to their nests at evening.
"The shadows at dusk
Are too dark," you said,
"So stay here with me,
A little while more,
Until the street lights shine,
And I can watch you walk away."
