Just when you think the summer's over
And the sun is going away,
And you, yourself would love to take an extended holiday,
But there will be peanuts to dig and pecans to thrash
And leaves are starting to turn.

My heart wants to turn, too,
Cast down its face away from sky,
But there it sees a volunteer morning glory
Just now sprawling over the crabgrass,
Just now looking for something to cling to and climb.

And just then, the smell of some other blooming bush,
I don't know its name,
Lifts my eyes with an encouraging word.
"Right now," it says, "is a good now,
Right now a good season,
Right now a good time!"
