I'm in love
With even the winter grey.
The cold cloud that pouts
Briefly on this hill,
Before the wind comes to brisk it away,
I kiss its baby face
And send it away to school.

I'm in love
With even the cold shoulder
Winter offers me.
Its handsome, muscular angle
Has proved its strength
And carries its burden year after year.
I put a light hand to touch it
As it packs a lunch
And goes to cut wood in the forest.

I'm in love.
The snow is falling
And every kiss falls where it should,
Covering me and leaving
No stone unturned to find
The best of hidden tender skin
To melt in,
And then it stays,
If only, on my side of the bed.
