Home and Hearth

There’s a fire in my heart
That's been smoldering
For a long time,
Lying there unrequited,
Waiting for the slightest trace
Of kindling to fall upon it,
Or the faintest breeze to blow
To feed it's starving embers,
And stir her potential pathos,
Fanning the hopeful little sparks
To a warm impassioned glow.

So hold me now while day is fading.
Breathe sweet life and energy,
Light and love, not near abating.
Make your heart so clear to me.
Let me taste your kiss, convincing
Me to hope again, to yearn.
Let us drift our woods together.
Layer by layer then, let us burn.
