Nightshift's Here

Nightshift’s here.
The day with a groaning sigh
Let’s go of all its goals.
“For tomorrow,
The rest for tomorrow,”
It says,
Nodding its head
In quick little yesses
To all the work
Still left undone.
But what if tomorrow doesn’t come?

Then enjoy the sweet dark flavor of night,
Resting in the quiet,
Taste the chocolate of life,
Feel the beauty hidden in the crickets’ croak,
And the message of the nightbird’s song;
Love the absolute truth of the moment,
The journey’s edge, the now of the movement,
The ones who can manage to arc along
With you, for truly, tomorrow never comes.
